The Notting Hill area has witnessed remarkable change over the years from its humble beginnings as part of the Great Forest of Middlesex and then as an area of farmland up until the 1870s.
The rural character of the area began to change with the opening of the Grand Union canal in 1801 and the Great Western Railway in 1838. By 1890 the area was covered by traditional Victorian terraced streets.
Since then the wider area has attracted many newcomers creating the vibrant, diverse character for which it is famous.

Considerable thought has gone into the design and planning of the development to ensure that Portobello Square has a strong sustainability profile.
Energy and water saving features and methods of reducing waste and pollution have been incorporated both in the development as a whole and also for each individual property.
Other key elements built into the design focus on reducing the impact on the local environment such as retaining the mature trees in Wheatstone Road and ensuring there are lots of green spaces available throughout the development.

Portobello Square began life in 2011 and since then the project has received many awards and accolades for its contemporary design and architecture and overall vision for the scheme.
With two Housing Design Awards, one Property Marketing Award and a What House Award already under its belt, the project has also been shortlisted (pending a final decision) for the What House Awards 2015 in the ‘Best Apartment Scheme’ and ‘Best Regeneration’ categories.

Here & Now began life in March 2011. Created to keep existing residents and the local community up-to-date with the regeneration and construction progress it also features engaging and relevant lifestyle and local interest stories.
